Biography
Biography
(For now) My music is based on nothing, on the void, the space in between things, and all of its artistic permutations and recreations. sound as a fisical element, as it touches the body as the same way as it touches the soul. as you dont actually know what happened but you feel your chest full after that framed period of time where sound fills up the room and creates a void of connection. deep listening and empathy are my guides, but i nosedive in the abyss with the eyes shut, while letting all sounds being what they are also guide the through the fall. and like this i never hit the ground… or if i do. i stand up and jump again.
there is another quote from Akeno Ashikawa that can also describe this state:
“I like the feeling of the texture of cocoons. A cocoon produces numerous threads. The threads come out so fast that my body is often left behind. At such times my body is empty. I wonder where my stomach and other organs have gone. But the threads that go out may be my organs. Or they may go out through all my pores. They spread out into space, no one can stop them. All that is left of me is contours. In the meantime, my body remains in the cocoon, and its suffocated. People often say that im not moving. Or that i look like an idiot.
Is it because i move too fast?”

“Best debut record 2021”
- New York City Jazz Record
Vinicius Cajado is a musician from São Paulo, Brazil. His music makes use of silence at the same volume and pace that makes the use of harsh noise. He blends storytelling, minimalism, maximalism, spectral music, avant-garde and contemporary Brazilian music concepts into a super fast reactive playing. Using improvisation and deep listening also as a form of empathy, exchanging views, ideas, and reinventing himself from the first till the last note played on stage. Vinicius has received different accolades across the globe such as “debut record of the year” by the New York City Jazz Record for his first solo recording Monu, and also has been prized with additional honors for most unique and creative playing at the international society of bassists in Europe. His recent release Storm Dance (Not Two Records) with the legendary bassist Joëlle Léandre is described as “ a stunning, powerful and meaningful addition to the lineage of improvised duo bass recordings, Léandre and Cajado have given us a vital recording, worthy of repeated listenings,” by the legendary bassist Mark Dresser.
